Recently, Mike and I went to Wild Water, formerly known as Clovis Lakes. Both of us haven’t been there in a long time. I was 15 when I was last there; the park still looks practically the same.

The only thing that’s different is that I can at least swim, so I felt more inclined to try all their rides, such as the claustrophobia inducing Drop Zone, and the Ghostslider, which spins you in a large drum in a whirlpool fashion, into a water depth of 7 feet. Nevertheless, I think the park is only worth going if you have friends or family.

Drop Zone – You’re at a very high angle and elevation from the ground, and enclosed in a capsule, and hear a countdown from 3!

By yourself, you’ll easily explore the entirety of the park within a hour or two; it looks a lot larger on the map than how it actually feels. Still, one of the places you can lounge around is the wave pool, which as the name suggests, does have artificial waves. Kids can lounge around nearby as well, at a different section nearby. Wild Water also has food, ice cream, but most importantly, alcoholic drinks! A frozen margarita is the perfect way to cool down if you happen to be dry.
